The Institute for Optimum Nutrition is dedicated to training highly qualified Nutritional Therapists and ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder talent, passion, and potential. The bursary scheme provides financial support to students who meet the eligibility criteria.

- Receive an unconditional offer to study for the Cert HE Personalised Diet & Health
- Be a UK resident with no immigration restrictions on the length of their stay
- Demonstrate a household income below £43,000
- Adhere to ION’s code of conduct and academic policies

- Be a UK resident with no immigration restrictions on the length of their stay
- Demonstrate a household income below £36,000
- Adhere to ION’s code of conduct and academic policies


Information for applicants
Bursaries funding
ION offers bursaries to support students with their tuition fees, which may cover either the full tuition fee or a partial amount, depending on the level of financial support available at the time of application. Available bursaries can be found below.
Funding sources:
- ION-funded bursaries: Raised through fundraising events, donations, or other initiatives
- Externally sponsored bursaries: Contributed by external companies or organisations, which may include additional eligibility requirements
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for an ION bursary, applicants must:
- Have applied for and received an unconditional offer to study for an eligible course at ION
- Be a UK resident with no immigration restrictions on the length of their stay
- Demonstrate a household income below AMOUNT STATED IN SPECIFIC BURSARY CRITERIA
- Adhere to ION’s code of conduct and academic policies
Additional eligibility criteria may apply for externally sponsored bursaries, ensuring compliance with UK equality laws.
Students currently enrolled in an ION course are not eligible to apply unless they are enrolling in a separate program.

Application process
Applicants must:
- Review the bursary eligibility criteria and bursary policy
- Download the bursary application form
- Submit a completed application and relevant supporting documents to studentfinance@ion.ac.uk
- Applications must be submitted by the specified application deadline. Late applications may not be considered
Selection process
- The Bursary Panel assesses applications based on financial need, eligibility, and available funding
- If the bursary is externally sponsored, the sponsor may nominate a representative to participate in the selection process
- Where funding is limited, bursaries will be awarded on a competitive basis
- Successful applicants will be notified via email shortly after the Bursary Panel has met and must formally accept the award within 10 working days
Bursary payment
- Bursary awards will be applied directly to tuition fees and will not be provided as cash payments
- If a bursary covers only part of the tuition fees, students must arrange payment for the remaining balance
- If a student withdraws or defers their studies, the bursary may be revoked, and repayment may be required
